In memory of Lorin Sorensen - 1935 - 2009
Lorin Sorensen first attracted Ford Motor Company's attention
in 1977, following the publication of his now classic Ford Life magazine and release of his first book The American Ford in the Fordiana Series.
That year he was asked to produce Ford's 75th Anniversary book
The Ford Road. Since then he has produced a series of historic car calendars for the company, consulted on marketing projects and films, and produced historic film documentaries about the company's cars. In 1983 he wrote and produced a picture book titled Fords Forever for a Ford marketing program of the same name.
During his career, Lorin authored 15 books, including his famous Ford series, a history of Beringer Vineyards (for owner Francis Ford Copala), an official 100th anniversary book for Sears.
Lorin's last and most proudest achievement is a book which he finished just a few months before his passing. Old Time Rodeo – The Way it Was allowed him to use his collection of rodeo and cowboy pictures in a beautiful book on the beginning of "Rodeo in America" Click here to order this book.
Lorin was well known by Ford fans worldwide. His out-of-print books are well sought after by collectors to this day. He was a member of the Ford V8 club and Ford Woodies Club and enjoy driving his 1940 Ford Woody Wagon to various west coast shows.
Lorin passed away on June 4, 2009 after a long battle with heart disease. He will be sorely missed.
