#15. FAST FORDS OF THE SIXTIES
Fords dominated American racing in the 1960's beginning with the mid-year 1963 models. Youthful buyers wanted their own cars to race on Sunday and drive to work on Monday. Suddenly a new "muscle car" market was born. To meet the demand Ford would introduce its new
"Total Performance" series, which would soon include hot new models from
Fairlanes and Mustangs to Falcons and Cougars! The Ford film
"Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday" kicks off the action.
The 1963 Falcon Sprint, Fairlane Sport Coupe, and Ford Sports Hardtop trying out the cliff-hanging roads of Monaco are highlighted. Then it's the introductions of the new
1965 Mustang GT, and Fairlane GTA. Carroll Shelby shows us his hot new Mustangs and a look inside his Shelby American shops. There's also the debut of the new
1966 Ford Fairlane XL Hardtop and Convertible, the 1966 Galaxie 7-Litre, and the Comet Cyclone GT.
Included are hot Ford models like the new
'68 Cougar XR-7, Cyclone GT and 428 CJ, Torino GT, the Torino Indy Pace Car, and the Torino Cobra
GT. All this plus racing at the Riverside NASCAR 500 and some great
'69 Mustang Mach 1 drag action!

For many Americans in the early days of motoring, Henry Ford's amazing Model T was the first car they had every seen, ridden in, driven or owned.
